Make my consent to organ and tissue donation official There are 2 ways you can give RAMQ your consent to organ and tissue donation: you can enter your consent in the Registre des consentements au don d’organes et de tissus or affix a signed sticker on the back of your Health Insurance Card. Each donation may save up to 8 lives and help restore the health of 20 other persons. Registre des consentements au don d’organes et de tissus The Registre des consentements au don d’organes et de tissus is managed by RAMQ. It contains more than 3.8 million consents. When a person passes away, a doctor or an authorized person can quickly ask Transplant Québec or Héma-Québec to check whether consent to donation has been registered. Entering your consent in the Registre Your consent will be official and in keeping with your wishes when you die. Remember to notify your family to make sure that it respects your choice. Anyone wishing to enter their consent in the Registre must sign the form, including persons aged 14 and under. Cancellation of your consent You can cancel your consent at any time. Call us to obtain the form Revocation of Consent to Organ and Tissue Donation. Sticker on the back of the Health Insurance Card You may consent to the organ and tissue donation without signing the Registre. When we mail you your new Health Insurance Card, you will also get a sticker. You must sign it and affix it on the back of your card to consent. You will have to repeat this every time you renew your card for your consent to remain valid. Alternatively, you may order the sticker online on the website of Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux. Living organ donation You may donate an organ or portion thereof during your lifetime. Donation of a kidney or portion of your liver will help patients undergoing a transplant.
